Random Rona pics!
I was in Baker Park on 8/16/09 watching Mary Ann Redmon and a bunch of cool kids came up to say hi...check out the pics!
Seriously, when I say coming soon, I mean these kids will have graduated high school by then! Sorry it took so long guys!
We were so sugary sweet in the first picture...
then we decided to make funny faces! The girls were so much fun.
Then I met very cool dudes, Garrison and Jake.
Germany and Amsterdam
So here are a few from when I was in Germany! It was a lot of fun. I went to Cologne and Dusseldorf and even took a day trip to Amsterdam. (I can't figure out how to get rid of the date and time stamp, oh well!)

This is taken in Amsterdam. I had just taken a 3 hour train ride and was pretty tired. We were on the way to the Anne Frank House that is now a museum. I was surprised at how many people got around on bikes there.
This was taken on a day trip to Cologne. We sat on the river and just watched the people and had a beer (of course!). I like this pic because it's how I picture a typical European city with narrow cobblestone streets and the window boxes above.

I saw this and had to take a picture of it. Any cake that is named after our Dan Stevens...I thought he'd appreciate. I should have bought it but I wasn't thinking, I just took the picture and left the grocery store...blame it on jetlag, I guess.

This is Detlev. I thought he was a "Town Crier" but, he wasn't. I mean, he did have a bell and a funny costume but, he informed me that he is a Constable. He worked at a restaurant where they have a little
game that is played for the patrons, they spin
a wheel and if it corresponds to your table
number, you get everything you've had till
that point for free. This guy was funny and
explained the game in German and English.
The more I talked to him, I found out he has
short stories posted on Amazon. Interesting huh? (BTW, I always call Dave the Town Crier because he'll blab any information you ever tell him. It's our little joke).
This is the DOM Cathedral in Cologne. It's one of the oldest in Europe and it's simply spectacular. You can't help be in awe of the architecture, the size, and the cool creepiness of this Cathedral. I went inside when I was there before and it was just amazing...and very cold because it was winter.
The dude in the dress is getting married. His friends are all wearing the same shirt that says "Game Over" for his bachelor party...Nice. I was surprised that guys do the same thing in Germany when they are getting married as they do in the US. They happily posed when they saw me trying to take picture of them on the sly.
This is one of the places I went to when in Amsterdam. Seriously? A place with just cheese? I'm in! I went in there and took a picture (again on the sly) of all the cheese! Think of this as my heaven!
Field trip to the new
Earth Space and Science Labortory
I took a field trip the the newly opened Earth Space and Science Laboratory on Madison Street. It was so cool and it made me feel like a kid again seeing all those cool things. The fish, horseshoe crabs, spiders (ewww), the guy in the space suit in the lobby and the cool fossils. There was so much more to see. Here are a few of the pics from that day (Nov. 2, 2009).
This is one of the turtles that they had there for the open house. Now, he's out of his element here but he didn't seem camera shy to me!
Have a I told you the story of how I found a turtle moving quickly down Bentz Street in the early morning hours in about 2004? I was delivering newspapers at the time and I noticed him truckin down the street, so stopped my car and threw the paper on the porch. Just as I was leaning down to pick up the turtle, the guy came out of the house and asked me what I was doing. I showed him the turtle and asked the man what I should do with him (I mean the turtle) and he said, his wife would know what to do with him. So he took this turtle inside and put him in the bathtub with some water. A few days later when I saw the guy again, he told me that the turtle had been taken over to the Earth Center at Lincoln Elementary School. Years later, I often wondered what became of "Benny". The lady at the exhibit said, he (who I named Benny- for Benny Mardones singer of the song "Into the Night") could possibly be one in the same turtle. So, she told me that she'd start calling this one Benny...just for me. Isn't that cool? Now he has a fabulous new place to live with lots of water and other turtles to hang out with!
I wish I could figure out how to get this picture right side up but for the time being, enjoy the space suit guy. He's in the entrance to the Earth Space and Science Lab.
Ewww. Spiders scare me. I'd much rather hang out with snakes! Look at this display of creepy crawlies (it made my skin crawl but it was so neat!)

Rona's Field Trip to... Jefferson Veterinary Hospital
November 20, 2009!
My first contact with Dr. Ahalt's office staff was when they wrote to me a few weeks ago. Dr. Ahalt was shopping when he saw a Snuggie for Dogs. Apparently, the staff has heard me talk about my "love" for the Snuggie blankets. That's when the wheels began turning with the staff. They contacted me and issued me a challenge...They said that they'd be willing to donate $100 to the animal charity of my choice if I simply purchased *GASP* a Dog Snuggie for Dave's little dog Chloe. One little thing...I'd have to wear my Snuggie that was embroidered from Embroid Me of Frederick. So I set off to buy the darn thing. See the look of joy as I purchased it?

Once I got the darn fuzzy thing. I went to Jefferson Veterinary Hospital. Check them out here on Facebook (they've got some fun pics of Dr. Ahalt and I kidding around as I showed him the dog Snuggie). I have to tell you the staff was awesome Dr. Ahalt, Tommie Jean, Kristin, Joyce, Brandy, Dr. Megan, Vivianna, and family Clare and son Cade. They made me feel very welcome and they even let me play with one of the dogs! Coach was such a cutie!
So now that I've given $9.99 (plus tax) to the Snuggie people, Dr. Ahalt has made a donation in my name at Tails of Hope Sanctuary in Mount Airy! Thank you so much Dr. Ahalt. You guys rock!
This is Chloe in her Snuggie. Notice her eyes are red and, (in my humble opinion) she looks really angry! I hear that little Chloe had difficulty walking in the Xtra small size Snuggie so Daddy Dave exchanged it for a small size. He claims she's much happier in this newer size. Yeah, whatever! |
